GIRP Fire, and Salamanders

Ave,

I performed the GIRP Fire-under unusual circumstances-today. I planned the timing out so that elemental tide and Planetary hour were positive....and ended up having to perform the ritual outside instead of my usual temple space.

This was interesting-having the wind blowing and the moon shining down added a certain something to the ritual. Also, wearing simple clothing and not robes helps keep passerby from assuming you're a madman.

I was not about to miss this window, though-I went out and got it done.

The ritual resulted in a couple of notable things-one was an introduction to a Salamander. He told me that he was local-that when summoning elementals the specific one you get depends on who's around. That's assuming your call is general, and you don't have a particular entity in mind. For some reason Salamanders have been lizards in my head-I've read too many fantasy novels in my day...the thing stood much like a man, only it wasn't solid. It was (of course) composed of flame and heat in my vision. It spoke clearly and quickly. It was very willing to assist me, and seemed very eager to Do Something, whatever that something might be.

Another interesting bit was the vision I saw while performing the ritual-normally I don't see the actual Element invoked surrounding me, but this time I closed my eyes after the Invocation, opened them, and saw a ring of fire and eyes around me.  Not as if they were physical of course, but layered over my vision in the way of these things. Large eyes, lot's of undulating, moving fire. The colors were rich, and mostly bright. This was strange and unexpected; it would have been perfectly normal were I Scrying, but this was a purely Invocatory ritual. Perhaps it had to do with the ritual timing. Who can tell with these things? There are so many possible variables. We'll see if this is consistent-perhaps I've lucked my way into better clairvoyance. Not holding my breath on that on.

  1. This is a very interesting observation. We know that the right timing has some influence in results (or should have) but here you really have proof. I wonder what the salamander was eager to do (yo unever know, maybe a trap?)

  2. Ave Fra Arcad,

I didn't actually summon the fellow; I invoked the Element, and he just sort of stepped out of the ring I perceived outside of my circle...so I didn't give him anything in particular to do, only made his acquaintance. I'm wary of spiritual entities that volunteer their services unrequested....The studies are going very well-I'm finding the new curriculum/information available to be very stimulating!

I hope that your studies are going smoothly as well, Frater,

Working brujeria for others is often thankless and time consuming.

Sala Malongo, Man, y'all. I find that I now spend the vaaaaast majority of my sorcerous/meditative time doing work for others. Which is awesome in many ways, as I've gotten very skilled at what I do. I've got no time for the experimentation, though. No time just fooling about. Sometimes I'm tempted to just say fuck it, and return to just doing things for myself....but I'm a priest, a Tata Nkisi. So I have duties beyond entertainment, and beyond my own development. Gotta balance this stage in the life as well. It's interesting, at the very least. I would have been overjoyed when I was a young aspiring wizard in my 20's to have this kind of problem, haha. Now I look back wistfully at the days when I could meditate for 4 hours straight--or at all-without scheduling a meeting with myself on Google Calendar. Many of the folks who are clients become good friends, some become students, others end up becoming sorcerer/priests themselves. And they are a bless...

The disastrous effect of Pornography on Theurgy

Ave, First off.....I'm no Puritan. I'm a huge fan of sex and its healthy expression. I'm a 31 year old American fellow; I practically grew up on the interwebz, and that means plenty of nudity and porn. Especially during my relatively barbaric early twenties. Lots of men my age will tell you they never enjoyed porn, or rarely watched it when they were young. These men are filthy,  filthy liars. It didn't become so mainstream because it was watched so seldom. There may be the occasional gent who avoided partaking, but I give him no credit; that sort of avoidance, built on fear of discovery and hidden shame, is shameful in itself. Like with most things, better to dare, be burnt, and learn than to sit in front of the fire with a trembling cowardice in the face of overwhelming curiosity. Just stay off of /b on 4chan, and you'll come out alright. The issue with pornography isn't a Moral issue. As long as everyone involved is a willing participant, mor...

Golden Dawn--WTF

Ave, I've been trying my level best to not talk about this latest eruption of foolishness, but good folks are being dragged through the mud (on both sides), and I've grown weary. This whole thing is a steaming pile of bullshit. No one is trying to "destroy" the Golden Dawn, that's just silliness. No one is trying to become the only "legitimate" Golden Dawn order either. I'm sickened by this display. Argue in a scholarly fashion! When did this sniping nonsense become the norm? A debate between honorable and wise gents (both of whom I consider Brothers in the Work) like Fraters AM and SR about the Sabbatian Qabbalah would be wonderful, if we could cut all the bullshit out. Quality conversations, ya'll.  Skip the vitriol, the name calling and the idiotic marketing methods. Yes, it is idiocy. This "McGolden Dawn" nonsense is stupid.Ya'll. GROW THE FUCK UP. For the record, The A+O's transmissions are valid, they are real. T...
